Lost Illusions is a site-specific installation consisting of video projection on ink and paint on transparent sheets assembled in a layered, dream-like forest formation. Physically animated by oscillating fans and illuminated with video of abstracted Dundas, ON backwoods, the piece is inspired by the deafening, yet healing silence of mother nature. Lost Illusions elicits this effect by attempting to evoke a state of transience with the viewer. In particular, to summon a familiar, encapsulating silence of the calming, wilderness aura while subtly comparing the beauty of nature with our increased disassociation with it, precipitated by our accelerated society.

This project was made possible with the support of the Media Artists Creation Projects grant from the Ontario Arts Council, an agency of the Government of Ontario.
